Question No: 1 Which civilisations provided the inspiration for change?
Answer: Inspiration for change is provided by many civilisations inhistory. The ancient Greek and Roman civilisations, and right after them, theMuslims were the inheritors of learning. East was already inspired for technological, political and economical changes. The Christians were inspiredfrom them. Thus the western world was also inspired for all revolutionarychanges. All these civilisations contributed to the change.These civilisations were rich in terms of skilled workforce andintellectuals like Michelangelo, Shakespeare, Galileo, Columbus and manymore people like them helped bring about change. Question No: 2 When new ideas were discussed, what was challenged?
Answer: The Christians took new ideas from Muslim civilisation and brought them back to Europe. These ideas were discussed and all aspects of lifewere challenged including spiritual, social, religious, political and economical.
 Question No: 3 What was the basis for the success of Florence?
Answer: Many things were the basis for the success of Florence. Thegeographic position of Florence connecting north and south of Europe was oneof the basic reasons. The trade developed. The city¶s profits flourishedsuccessful banks, prosperous businesses, wealthy citizens, craftspeople, artistsand thinkers or intellectuals. nnbn
Question No: 4 Give some examples of why you think traders needed to be resourcefuland creative
Answer: Success in business demands to be resourceful and creative interms of trade. For example, a businessman can¶t get profit until takes risk anddevelops initiative, like the traders of Florence. Traders should indulge in newventures e.g. in 1300s, the traders of Florence jumped into the business of silk,wool and flax. The successful traders need to invest money in new businessesin order to get profit, for example, traders of Florence invested money in building textile industry.
Question No: 5 Why did artists flourish in Florence?
Answer: Florence was a wealthy republic. Traders became powerful as they were ready to accept new ideas to make money. They competed each other, not just in business but as well in their lifestyle. These were the reasons that artists flourished in Florence and many talented people flocked to the city. Question No: 6 What stirred people’s interest in the world beyond their own lands?
Answer: It was in the late thirteenth century, Marco Polo, an explorer, brought back to Italy, tales of his adventures in China. His travels and explorations of other explorers stirred the people¶s interest in the world beyond their own lands.  
Question No: 7 How did humanism begin in Europe and what was its impact on art and architecture?
Answer: After the adventures of Marco Polo and other explorers, trade and exploration encouraged learning. People spent their leisure and money to get educated. Scholars translated books, opening up new areas of thought about politics, religion, science and art. Humanism is an interest of human in the world and people and the desire to know more. Thus humanism began inEurope.Humanism had a huge impact on art and architecture. Castles and manors were built for comfort and beauty. Churches were decorated lavishly.Masons and craftspeople were told what to create. Humanism developed people¶s interest in spending money on comfort and luxury to enrich their lives having an impact on art and architecture. Question No: 8 What made the world open up for the people of Florence?
Answer: Education actually made the world open up for the people of Florence. The invention of printing press by Johann Gutenberg paved way for learning. Books were printed in people¶s own language encouraging more people to read and write. Books were cheaper too. Ideas could be spread quickly. The world was opening up for the people of Florence.
